(pronounced "Ghee-clay") A French word that means "to spray". This spray print method is a new medium and is a blend of art and technology that seemingly expresses the artist's intention more closely than any other means currently available.
The basis of this print process is enhanced digital ink jet printing. Using data from the original painting gathered by an extremely high resolution scanner, a state-of-the-art graphics printer charges, then sprays four million drops of water-based inks per second onto a spinning drum that holds the canvas. The result is a digital print that is as near to the perfect representation of the artist's original art as is possible with today's technology. This process makes fine artwork easier to own at a fraction of the cost of an original art piece.
Giclee reproductions are not mass produced. Each Giclee print is created individually at the time of purchase. After the printed canvas is stretched, mounted and coated with a protective UV finish immediately shipped to you directly from the printer.
